U9: Castle Combe Tournament MR 110626

Castle Combe 6-a-side report.

Our now annual visit to the well organised Castle Combe 6-a-side festival, was on a beautifully sunny & hot day. Tough for the players, great for the spectators.

We were without our usual super keeper for this festival, so several players filled the gap. Two clean sheets in the first two games, Just because these goalkeepers didn't see or touch the ball, it still means they kept a clean sheet!
Our two other goalkeepers had a little more to do in the 3rd and 4th games. A couple of good saves from both, and for novice goalkeepers they gave very good performances. Hopefully this will have proved how much respect and support the goalkeeper needs from his team mates. As all...

U9: End of Season Report 2010/2011

Season 2010/11 was the first competitive season for MYFC under 9's. We entered the Cotswold Youth League.

We had spent the previous season in the same league, but non competitive. It had turned out be a tough season for all involved with all but one result being a loss.
We as coaches really did not know what was going to happen this season. It turned out to be a credit to all the players signed on with us. Those who have been with us since day one and those who have joined us this...

U9: MR Slimbridge 110529

Finally, our very last league game for the 2010/11 season. An away game versus Slimbridge.

The decision was made to use this game as a guide to what areas and what players we needed work with, ready for next season. Soon we will be heading for 9v9 then 11v11, so a full strong team will be needed.
The first half was a great first half for both teams. some great football played by all.
MYFC were trying very hard to play the passing game, and it looked really good at times.

U9: MR Randwick 110522

Today's league game now known as 'The Gale Force Game' was at home to Randwick, on a very, very windy day!

This game was filled with excellent individual performances from ALL MYFC players. Along side this, was a brilliant team performance from MYFC. A very evenly matched game provided a great game of football to watch. Played in great spirit, with both sets of players looking like they enjoyed being part of it.

Both teams adapted perfectly to the weather conditions, keeping...

U9: Chippenham Tournament MR 110515

Chippenham 6-a-side report.

A very early start for a Sunday morning 6-a-side tournament at Chippenham YFC.

As with the league, it was our first taste of competitive style football. This time within a 6-a-side tournament.

Three group games, with the top two progressing to the semi final.

Each game would be five minutes each way. This was a little worrying, as traditionally it takes the MYFC team ten...
