Our 1st of two games, our 5th league game took us away to Cirencester, on a very cold, dark, wet day!
We all arrived at Cirencester expecting a tough game against a good footballing side.
MYFC made hard work of the first half, loosing shape and style more often than not, lacking the calm, passing game we all now expect. This lead to the MYFC goalkeeper being very busy, staying warm by making some solid saves.
After a couple of positional changes at half time, we were back to our new player set standard of football.
The MYFC goalkeeper remained on form with nearly every shot at him. The MYFC defense became solid and strong, battling for the ball and never giving up, then making a pass up-field.
The MYFC midfield/strikers started to work as a calm, confident section, working the ball and creating some great passing moves, which led to goals, including a brace and a hattrick.
Like our last game, we will continue to work hard on playing as a team, no heroes. And again we came home happy with the result.
The second game took us away to Castle Combe. where the weather was slightly better!
This time we arranged a slightly harder game for the MYFC team, as it was now time for them to step up a gear and improve the work rate.
It did as stated, prove to be a harder game for the MYFC players.
Shared MYFC goalkeeper duty resulted in some good brave saves, under alot of pressure from Castle Combe.
The busy MYFC defence proved to be progressing in the right direction, showing some intelligent, committed defending.
A non stop running game from the midfield/strikers was good to see, as they did not to give up until the very end.
We will continue to try and stay calm on the ball and choose to play the passing game, along with working very hard on our positional awareness.
Another good weekend for all involved.
