This year, MYFC were represented with two U11 teams at the annual Chippenham 6-a-side tournament.

Match Report MYFC Red:

As some of you remember , with the Chippenham tournament comes the wet weather, but this year was dry and bright and all was set for our first tournament in 2013.

FC Chippenham Youth B

The match started at a furious 6 a side pace. Both teams seemed evenly matched with chances on both sides.
The first goal came from an excellent wind assisted throw in landing in the box with Chippenham first to react and score.
MYFC fought back well with determined defending and a number of chances but we couldn’t bring the score level. Final result 0-1 to Chippenham.

Castle Combe Colts Black
Our next game brought Castle Combe, our passing was improved moved the ball well spreading the ball to the wings and lots of possession.
Castle Combe fought hard and limited our chances, although, the first half saw us hit the crossbar twice.
Numerous further chances went wide and that elusive goal never came. Therefore the result was 0-0.

The MYFC slow start was beginning to wear off and we worked hard against a well drilled Thatcham team.
An excellent pass through from midfield allowed our striker put a great shot into the far corner 1-0 MYFC.
Our opposition came back and although we defended well they fashioned an opening and this resulted in a powerful equaliser giving our keeper no chance.
Our keeper, defence and defensive midfield worked well but good pass found us out of position and allowed a shot on goal and Thatcham secured the winner. This was a real shame as the team played really well.

Derry Hill
With the early cobwebs blown away we knew we had to win this match well for our afternoon to go any further.
Good passing and an overlap run down the left allowed a cross to reach the back of the Derry Hill net.
An excellent pass through from midfield allowed our striker to go past the outstretched keeper and the ball was in the net 2-0.
Still all to play for both team were struggling to control the ball, MYFC received the ball on the centre spot and a well placed pass led to a lofting strike over the keeper and into the net 3-0.
The second half was more even, Derry Hill were very determined and MYFC did not have as much control of the ball and we could not add to our tally.

We finished a respectable 3rd place only missing out on progression on goals scored. Well done all, looking forward to Castle Combe.

Match Report MYFC U11 White:

Chippenham 6 A-side Tournament 2013 brought the sunshine and a positive raring to go attitude from the white team.

Enthusiastic and keen to get to work, the white team’s approach to the first game was straight out of the block’s setting a good pace for the game. With good passing, holding their positions and no fear to close the opposition down came the first goal pushing the teams confidence to a win.

The second game saw much of the same attitude but the opposition gave as good as they got putting the team on a back foot, leaving no room for error the white team found it hard to keep up with the quality of passing and movement the opposition brought to the game. Still they didn’t give up holding the loss to just a goal to nil. Although defeated the teams spirit were far from broken with nothing but focus for the next game to come.
Pushing forward half time came with a 1-0 lead, once again seeing good passing and communication from the team but unfortunately the second half saw the defence fall asleep leaving it open to two unfortunate goals.

Still at a loss team spirit continued to be up beat and although tired ready for the next game, this again came up against a very organised quality team and despite hard work and determination finished off the white team tournament.
The complete attitude from every individual from the start of the tournament to the finish was nothing but positive and an obvious enjoyment for the game what ever the score may have been.

An inspiration to other teams on how to conduct yourself towards the game of football.
