Our first game back after the half term break, took us away to Bradford Town Youth Lions. The Lions proved to be a strong physical team, they didn’t give MYFC much time on the ball, leading to a nervous, panicked MYFC team within the first half.
MYFC were going to have to dig deep, stay calm and work their socks off.
MYFC were creating some good passing football, leading to a number of chances, all of which didn’t quite make the back of the net.
MYFC were making the first half, hard work for themselves, with a lack of finding space, team play and poor first touch.
At the half time break, most MYFC players were aware of what was lacking from their game, and they were keen to try a different approach in the second half.
The second half saw a lot of MYFC pressure. This lead to a good number of chances, resulting in goals. When MYFC were letting the ball do the work, their passing looked strong, quick and creative. These times are when we look at our best and are able to compete against anyone.
MYFC were slowly getting back to what they are capable of during the second half, but the combination of the half term break and a physically strong Bradford team, put MYFC under new pressure, which they tried their best to keep on top of.
The game finished in the favour of MYFC. A tough game for all MYFC players, proving we need to stay on top of our game all season long.
We must, as a team, get this creative, passing football down to near perfection, if we are going to make an impact next season. Whatever division we are in, without the passing, quick thinking game, wins will be hard to come by.
We will continue to make steps forward at each game and work hard as a team.
A tough game, but a deserved win.
