Club's History

welcome_150Malmesbury Youth Football Club was formed in 1989 with just two teams.  Over the years we have seen a steady growth and currently we manage a total of 13 teams from Under 6 to Under 16 including an all girls team, totaling more than 230 players. With the growth in the Club ever since if was formed, it soon became clear that the Club had to find its own facilities as the demand for more pitches could not be met by the pitches that we had access to. Eventually fields to the side and behind the Red Bull Inn along the Sherston Road were found.
Given the loss of all pitches for full sized matches in the Town at that time (full size currently at Malmesbury School), the Club would have  been unable to provide football for the youth of the town. The decison to move to our current location meant we were able to continue to provide our community with a local Youth Football Club.

Current Location

stadion-icon48x48We make use of three pitches for full 11-a-side football and three for the small sided games which younger players up to under 10 years old will play on; there is also a dedicated outdoor training pitch.
At the start of 2008, the green light was given for the construction of new changing facilities with the help from out sponsors. In 2009 the construction of the modern changing facilities was completed. This has made a very positive impact towards the well-being of our players during matchdays. Often on a Sunday morning up to six matches will take place with the Car Park full and the adjoining Red Bull Inn doing a roaring trade.
Teams in the various age categories play in the Stroud Youth League, North Wilts Youth & Minor LeagueMid Wilts League and the Cotswold Youth League.

Player Development

keeper_100The Club is also very proud to have played a part in the development of the careers of two full time and a number of part-time professional football players.  Whilst many of our current players may aspire to achieve this as well, keeping them fit, providing them with football skills, direction and a focus on teamwork will hopefully help them in other areas of their lifes outside playing their sport.

Volunteers

Like all Clubs, we exist through the dedication of numerous volunteers and our sponsors. If you believe you can assist, please see the section about joining us!
